Research knowledge transfer

We help to ensure that commissioning decisions are based on robust evidence through the sharing of best practice. As part of this, we host a number of events which provide a knowledge exchange forum for NHS healthcare professionals.

Applying Research evidence in Commissioning decisions

Applying research in commissioning The research team has developed a new forum (ARC), which aims to encourage greater engagement between key academic researchers and CCG commissioners to promote evidence-based commissioning. The forum will feature a series of eight themed sessions per year, facilitated by WSYB CSU. It will have academic and CCG Chairs who will host each session. In 2014 the chairs will be Professor Robbie Foy and Dr Ramesh Edara.

It is intended that the academic chair will rotate between the four Universities in the region, with volunteers being requested for the role of CCG Chair.

The sessions will take the format of a single presentation from a leading academic on an area of current priority followed by themed round-table discussions, each led by an academic with special interest. These discussions will be documented and shared with forum delegates.

After consultation with CCG commissioners, it was agreed that the sessions will run between 13:30 and 16:30hrs. The weekday and venue will be alternated to enable maximum attendance.  Each CCG will initially be offered two places. Additional guests will be invited dependent upon the theme.

It is hoped that CPD can be offered and WSYB CSU will complete the necessary administration e.g. supplying certificates. The OD team has offered to support the forum in preparing CPD and, when able, providing scribes for the sessions.

At present these sessions are only open to CCGs in West Yorkshire but if you are interested in running sessions in your area, please contact us.
